Dear Friends,
Last week the House passed the Early Action Budget bill, taking immediate action to reduce the state's projected budget deficit by $1 billion. The bill is fiscally responsible, prevented some automatic increases, and sent a clear message to state agencies to stop discretionary spending.
This week the Education Finance Committee heard House File 88 to empower school districts to determine their staffing levels. HF 88, chief authored by Rep. Doepke, restores local control over school staffing while maintaining current state funding levels.
Also, this week Governor Dayton revealed his $1 billion Bonding (Debt) bill, spending money the state does not have. The focus needs to be on reducing spending, rather than going deeper into debt.
I always welcome hearing from you. I can be reached by phone at (651) 296-4212. I can also be contacted via e-mail at rep.pam.myhra@house.mn or via U.S. mail at 517 State Office Building, 100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55155.
Sincerely,
Pam
