Three bills I have authored this year were heard in the Agriculture and Transportation Committees on Wednesday.
The agriculture bill I introduced in the Ag Committee, HF 2158, continues to exempt number 1 diesel fuel from the state's biodiesel content mandate and all diesel during winter months from October through March. This would be extended until March 31st 2015.
The bill would also extend existing exemptions for certain industries by eight years to May 1, 2020.
HF 2208 would help rural Minnesota. It would allow for $35 million in bonds to help with interchanges. This is grant money that cities would be receiving and helps to promote economic employment and traffic safety.
HF 2057, is a bill that would allow for bonding for Minnesota’s bridges. The funds for this issue are generally in a bonding bill, and I was surprised to find this was not in the Governor’s bonding bill. The state must have a 20 percent match in order to receive federal funds. I believe this bill is important, and funding our bridges is important to ensure traffic safety.
This week the office of Geographic Information Services released the maps issued by the courts redrawing the legislative and congressional lines. Every ten years when the census is complete the legislative and congressional district lines are redrawn. To find more information please visit the state Geographic and Information Services website.
Don’t forget to participate in my 2012 legislative survey!
