LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

News From Representative Kiel

I have made my way back to St. Paul and am ready to start a new session today. We have been hard at work this last week as lawmakers unveiled a plan to prioritize bills during the session. The plan called, Reform 2.0, lays out a series of issues that we plan to introduce during the 2012 session.

During the 2011 session, we eliminated a $5.2 billion budget deficit and implemented reforms. This year in 2012 we want to implement more reforms. Many legislators traveled to Northern Minnesota last fall and discussed reform ideas with hundreds of business owners, local government leaders and area residents.

We want to put the ideas that we heard into legislation. This legislation will create a stronger private sector economy, help to raise student achievement and put Minnesotans in charge of their health care, while reducing the cost of government.

Please stay tuned in the coming weeks for more on legislation that is being introduced and talked about in committee.

If I can be of any help to you during the 2012 session please don’t hesitate to contact my office. You can reach me by email at rep.debra.kiel@house.mn or call my office at 651-296-5091. I also enjoy having guests at the Capitol; please feel free to make an appointment with my office and stop by to see me.

Sincerely,

Deb
