We have now offered Governor Dayton three different budget proposals to solve the budget deficit. We have yet to see a detailed budget plan from him, and a reasonable compromise. I have attached a graph to this email explaining the progress of the budget. With a looming government shutdown, it is time for Governor Dayton to call the legislature back to vote on a budget in order to prevent a shutdown.
Governor Dayton said on the campaign trail that he would not shut the government down over a tax increase, and now look what is happening. He is willing to shut down the government, and put over 35,000 people out of work, just so he can get his way. Governor Dayton calls raising taxes a mandate by the people of Minnesota. Well, Governor Dayton was only elected with 47% of the vote. And according to a new poll put out by KSTP featured results of a SurveyUSA poll that showed 87% of people polled do not want increased spending. Click Here to read the story.

The people of Minnesota have made it clear:
- We need to balance the budget without increases in revenue
- A government shutdown is completely avoidable; Governor Dayton needs to call a special session
We have a balanced budget and have offered Governor Dayton multiple compromises. Now it is his turn, the ball is in his court and it is time for him to give us a detailed budget. We need to work together in order to get this budget passed before June 30th. I am optimistic that Governor Dayton will hopefully send us a compromise soon and that we will agree on a budget solution.
Please call Governor Dayton at 651-201-3400 and ask him to keep his word to the people of Minnesota and not shut the government down. Tell him to call the legislature back for a special session so that we can pass a budget and avoid a government shutdown.
