On Monday I attended and spoke at the Jobs Summit at Northland Community and Technical College, along with Representatives Dave Hancock and Deb Kiel. Governor Dayton and other local officials also attended and spoke. Many of the attendees gave lots of good ideas on government reform, and how the legislature can help improve the economic and business climate of Minnesota. We have to figure out a way to get state agencies to be less adversarial in their relationships with businesses and local government entities. I applaud Governor Dayton for recognizing this issue.
On Monday morning I met with DNR officials and received an update on the fires in the Greenbush area that are now under control. Thank you for the countless hours put in to fighting these fires by our volunteer fire departments from Greenbush, Lancaster, and Roseau, Lake Bronson as well as from several states around the country, along with the Chief of Police in Greenbush and the Roseau County Sheriff’s office, local DNR employees and everyone else involved for all of their help. These folks did a tremendous job in getting these fires under control. Thank you for all of your hard work on behalf of our community!
Monday evening I attended a banquet of the Roseau Chapter of the MN Deer Hunters Association. It was a lot of fun to see so many friendly faces. Sportsmen do so many positive things for our region, and it is a privilege to support them. There were about 300 hunters in attendance.
I’d also like to thank Lori Dowling for her help this week in discussing DNR issues in Northwest Minnesota. Lori is the new Northwest Regional Director for the DNR. I look forward to working with her in the future. Commissioner Landwehr will also be in the area on October 25th and 26th.
Again, if you would like to schedule a meeting or need help with anything, please don’t hesitate to call my office at 651-296-9635, I am happy to help!
Please feel free to pass this on to your family and friends and encourage them to sign up for my weekly email updates on my legislative website at www.house.mn/1a
Have a great weekend!
