Friends –
Last week on May 6th I was able to meet with the Mayor of Hallock, Paul Clay, along with Governor Dayton, Senator Stumpf and some of the regional managers of the U.S. Border Patrol and Customs including, David Murphy, Jim Knoell and Dan Harris Jr. We met in St. Paul at the Governor’s office and spoke about the wide support for the city of Hallock to possibly be chosen as the new site of a border patrol station. The money for this new site has been appropriated by the feds and now a location must be chose. Along with Hallock there are two other cities in North Dakota that are also in the running to be chosen. This new station would create over 50 jobs in Hallock and would be a great opportunity for Minnesota.
I also wanted to mention a few school groups that have come to visit as well. Classes from Newfolden, Greenbush-Middle River and Grygla came to visit. Former State Representative Maxine Penas’ granddaughter was along with her class and I had the privilege of introducing her on the House Floor. Hannah actually gaveled session in and she led the House members in the Pledge of Allegiance. House members also shared stories, with Hannah, about Maxine and her time here at the Legislature.
Stay tuned this week as we work on a budget deal and wrap up session next week.
Sincerely,
Dan
