ST. PAUL – On January 4, State Representative Mike Benson (R-Rochester) took the oath of office to serve as state representative for District 30B, which includes the communities of Rochester, Stewartville, Chatfield, Plainview, Dover, Elgin, and Eyota.
“I’m grateful for the chance to serve District 30B, and my top priority is to represent their interests to the best of my ability,” Benson said.
Benson was recently appointed as Vice Chair of the Minnesota House State Government Finance Committee, and will also serve on the Health and Human Services Reform, Higher Education Policy and Finance, and Transportation Policy and Finance committees over the next two years.
"With Minnesota facing a $6.2 billion budget deficit, our committees will be looking for ways to do more with less,” Benson said. “It will be a challenge to eliminate this projected shortfall, but I’m confident we can help solve this crisis by forcing government to live within its means.”
“As the session progresses, I’d like to hear from my constituents as to how they would like our budget balanced, and once again thank them for the opportunity to represent their interests in the Minnesota House,” Benson concluded.
