PRESS RELEASE

Bob Barrett officially sworn in as state representative

St. Paul – Minnesota’s 2011 Legislative Session officially began January 4 with Bob Barrett (R-Shafer) and 133 other state representatives being sworn into office during a ceremony at the State Capitol.

“It is an honor to be elected by the people of District 17B,” Barrett said. “We have a lot of work ahead of us in the Legislature to make Minnesota a place of innovation and job creation once again.”

Most of Rep. Barrett’s work during the first months of session will take place in House Committees. Barrett said he was very pleased with his recent committee assignments, as he will serve on Education Reform, Health and Human Services Reform and Property and Local Tax committees.

“There are many areas where we can improve the way government works to balance the budget without raising taxes on hard-working families,” Barrett said. “Education and Health and Human Services represent two areas where reform is badly needed.”

Barrett has moved into his new legislative office, which is Room 413 of the State Office Building adjacent to the Capitol. All state representatives are housed in this building.

“I hope my constituents will feel free to stop by my new office if they are visiting the area,” Barrett said. “I also encourage anyone to contact me if they have questions or concerns.”

Barrett can be reached by phone at (651) 296-5377. He can also be contacted via e-mail at rep.bob.barrett@house.mn, or via U.S. Mail at 413 State Office Building, St. Paul, MN 55155.
