February 20 Legislative Update
Neighbors,
We wrapped up another great week in St. Paul today. On Wednesday evening I had the honor of attending Governor Dayton’s State of the State Address in the House Chamber. The Governor’s top priority for Minnesota is creating jobs, which is a priority that I share. The legislature is looking to do what businesses have asked us to do: identify, scale back and eliminate excess costs, regulations and other obstacles that hinder job creation. We want to foster an environment in Minnesota that encourages businesses to grow and expand, and be able to provide quality jobs to hardworking Minnesotans.
On Wednesday, I had the honor of meeting Mr. Ken Krueger, a World War II Veteran and a resident of Blaine. Mr. Krueger was honored at a ceremony in the Minnesota Capitol Rotunda where he received the prestigious Knight of the Legion of Honor Medal. This medal represents France’s highest military honor typically reserved for French nationals. It is given to a select few American soldiers in recognition of and gratitude for their valorous efforts in liberating France during the Second World War. Mr. Krueger served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1943-1945 as a motor messenger. He participated in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central European Campaigns. For his courage and achievements, Ken was awarded both the Bronze Star and Good Conduct medals among several others. Thank you for your service, Mr. Krueger!
Next week I am presenting HF1036 in the House Higher Education Committee. HF1036 provides management and consolidation to state passenger vehicle fleets.
