REP. ROSENTHAL ASKS FOR CITIZEN INPUT

To the Editor:

The start of the 2010 Legislative Session is just 3 months away. Once again, the agenda will be full of serious issues, from persistently high unemployment levels to the rising numbers of families who are losing their health insurance.

There is little doubt that everyone has made changes to cope with current economic conditions. Each of us - consumers, workers, business owners, and those in the public sector – are trying adjust to new circumstances, whether it’s workforce cuts, reductions in perks and benefits, cutting back on some of life’s luxuries, or finding creative ways to do more with less. It will be critical to our long-term recovery that rather than going back to business as usual, we retain the valuable lessons we’re learning.

As a member of the House Jobs Task Force, I will continue working with state economists and employment experts to develop strategies to move our state forward and get people working again. Additionally, the Legislative Small Business Caucus has launched a survey to gather feedback from small business owners about obstacles they are facing and what state government can to do to facilitate a more favorable business climate. You can find the survey online at www.house.mn. I encourage every Edina and West Bloomington small business owner to participate.

I also want to hear from you. Please contact me to share what you have learned from this economic downturn and how these lessons might be applied in the public arena to move Minnesota from recession to sustained recovery.

Sincerely,

Paul Rosenthal
State Representative, District 41B
