ODESSA AWARDED WASTEWATER TREATMENT GRANT
State Rep. Andrew Falk is pleased to announce that the city of Odessa has been awarded a $588,500 grant for a sewer collection system rehabilitation project.
According to Falk, the grant is from the state Wastewater Infrastructure Fund (WIF) and is possible through a unique partnership established by the 1998 State Legislature with the United States Department of Agriculture, Rural Development.
“I would like to congratulate the city of Odessa for their successful application for this grant, as well as for their continued efforts to improve their wastewater treatment facility," said Falk. “I will continue my efforts at the State Legislature to provide the necessary financial support that allows the Public Facilities Authority (PFA) to move projects such as this forward for communities in our district. “
The state of Minnesota provides up to 65 percent of the grant funding allocated by the Rural Development, which is also providing a grant and loan just over $800,000. Communities across the state have also benefited from federal funding distributed through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“Improvements such as this help keep our rural communities vibrant and a good place to live,” said Falk. “They also create important local jobs at a time when they are badly needed.”
