The Game and Fish Bill has been introduced in the Environment and Natural Resources Committee. It is primarily comprised of language from the DNR, and this bill includes various changes to game and fish provisions in statutes, including the proposed hunting season and management language for wolves.
Additional provisions to the department language, heard in committee include:
• Sustained availability of electronic game and fish licenses even during a government shutdown.
• Changes to application and registration of snowmobiles operating in the state and issuance and display of registration decals and trail stickers, and use of metal traction devices for snowmobiles on paved public roads except where prohibited.
The bill modifies a variety of other statutes including those pertaining to licensing provisions for resident and nonresident hunters, removal of beavers and dams by local units of government, game bird and waterfowl hunting.
Omnibus Ag bill will be heard in the Civil Law Committee next week. This bill is the Department of Agriculture/Board of Animal Health’s policy and technical and food safety bill. Provisions within the bill are aimed at streamlining and updating statutes and rules to reduce costs and improve efficiencies within the department and board.
