SESSSION UPDATE

News From Representative Anderson

Dear Neighbors,

Now that the finance bills have been completed we are now working on policy bills. I have been working on two bills that were heard in the Agriculture committee last week.

House File 625, which pertains to liability issues when farmers graze cattle on state-owned land. The DNR has said they want to expand the program and open up more acreage for farmers to use. This bill has received bi-partisan support.

I have also been working on House File 1347 in regards to forming a farm study group. The purpose of the group would be to study the feasibility of building a dairy research and the hope is that this will be a public and private partnership, in which researchers can conduct studies on nutrition and technology as it pertains to dairy farming. Dairy farmers need to have the tools to keep up with modern technology in the 21st century.

With only a month to go in session here at the State Legislature I promise to continue working hard on your behalf.
