ST. PAUL – State Rep. Paul Anderson recently earned two awards for his legislative efforts in areas pertaining to business and agriculture.
Anderson, R-Starbuck, received a Guardian of Small Business Award for his efforts to improve Minnesota’s business climate and help people get back to work. He also earned the Farm and Rural Legislative Award for his commitment to pro-agriculture initiatives.
“Business and agriculture are crucial to getting our state back on track from the recession,” Anderson said. “I am honored to receive these awards and will remain committed to helping our state’s businesses and farmers thrive.”
Doug Peterson, who presides over the Minnesota Farmers Union, indicated Anderson earned an award for his strong voting record, his availability to meet with MFU members and staff, and for his committee work on environmental and agricultural issues.
Anderson received the business award from the National Federation of Independent Business. State Director of NFIB/MN Mike Hickey wrote that Anderson was recognized for his votes in support of small business, including voting against several significant tax increases. Anderson also supported legislation to expand the Small Employer Flexible Benefit Plan Law to more small businesses and individuals, and opposed a measure to raise the cost of Health Savings Account plans.
