Neighbors,
This week, the Minnesota Courts Redistricting Panel released the new legislative and congressional district maps. This change will not go into effect until next year and my focus remains on serving my current constituents. If you would like to take a closer look at the maps, please visit this link: http://www.gis.leg.mn/html/redistricting.html.
Yesterday I presented HF2392 to the House Committee on Government Operations. The bill creates an Anoka County Housing Authority.
Next Monday, I have three bills up for a hearing in the House Committee on Veteran Services:
- HF2261 Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery burial eligibility expanded to include deceased allied Hmong-American or Lao-American veterans of the American Secret War in Laos.
- HF2260 Congress and the President of the United States memorialized to amend federal veterans cemetery law to expand eligibility for burial in state veterans cemeteries developed with federal funding to include allied Hmong-American and Lao-American veterans of America's Secret War in Laos.
- HF2259 Lawful gambling net profits for military marching, color guard, or honor guard units allowable per diem reimbursement increased.
Governor Dayton signed bipartisan supported HF1770 into law on Wednesday. This bill requires that teachers in Minnesota pass a basic skills exam before receiving their teacher’s license. HF1770 shows a great stride in education reform that will directly benefit Minnesota’s students.
Yesterday evening, Governor Dayton signed HF 2394, a bill that I co-authored. It was passed by the Senate and presented to Governor Dayton yesterday evening. The bill was first passed by the House on Monday. The bill was signed into law last night, and is effective today. The bill requires communities be notified when a person is released from the Minnesota sex offender program.

Have a great weekend,
