Weekly Update
Greetings from the Capitol,
This week the committee on Veterans Service Division welcomed the new Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Major General Shellito. The Major General joins the department after a long career of honorable leadership as the recently retired Adjutant General of the Minnesota National Guard. I look forward to working with the Major General to honor Minnesota’s Veterans, active service members and their families.
Over the weekend the Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life held their annual march. I am thankful for their continued efforts to protect life and advocate on behalf of the smallest, most vulnerable in our community. With over 4,000 people at the Capitol this past weekend, the demand for protecting life was heard loud and clear.
Also, this Thursday the House will vote on an Early Action Budget bill. This bill will set out to immediately tackle the state’s deficit while protecting job creators and businesses. House File 130 will responsibly check the state’s out of control spending. Government is not exempt from the strain of this economy. Minnesota families have set priorities, made choices and lived within their means. It’s time for Minnesota’s government to do the same.
I will continue to stand by Minnesota families and Minnesota businesses as we look to bring Minnesota into a prosperous, positive future for everyone in our community.
