LETTER TO THE EDITOR

WELCOMING OUR SOLDIERS HOME

Friends, as tough economic times and budget discussions dominate our work at the Capitol I am also believe it is important to continue to recognize other areas of our community. This upcoming Saturday, I have been honored with an invitation to attend and speak to a group Marines from the Marine Wing Support Squadron- 471 returning home from a seven month tour of duty in Iraq. It is truly one of the honors of serving as a State Representative to have these opportunities to meet first-hand with our soldiers as they return home.

As an Iraq Veteran and as the father of two sons who have served in Iraq with one son currently serving in Afghanistan, I am very excited and humbled by the opportunity to greet these Service men and women and their families as they return from serving our country. These soldiers will face a tough transition back into civilian life, and they certainly deserve our heartfelt recognition for their sacrifices. As our state and our country are facing very difficult economic times, it is always important that we remember and honor those men and women who have chosen to serve and make the sacrifices necessary for the protection of our country.

Sincerely,

Bob Dettmer
State Representative
