Recently I had the wonderful opportunity to attend an event where the first “Koryne Horbal Fearless Award" was presented to Coleen Rowley. Coleen was honored for her integrity and fearless leadership in calling for changes at the FBI.
The award, like the woman herself, reflects a dynamic visionary and fearless force that remains dedicated to the task at hand without thought of consequence or cost to self. Koryne has served us nationally as the fifth Ambassador to the United Nations and by being a key proponent in the establishment of Title IX that opened competitive school sports to girls.
In Minnesota, Koryne has dedicated her service to forge a way for woman to be fully active in civic life and the elective process. The first woman chair of the DFL party, Koryne has continuously strived within the DFL for equal participation by women. Her leadership shows us what it truly means to be a leader. What so many of us take for granted today actually exists because of her fearless leadership.
