Boycott Is Over!

Dear Editor:

The boycott is over, and patrons of the state cafeterias in the St. Paul Capitol complex can once again eat at establishments that support fair labor practices. Last week, an agreement was reached between Taher, Unite Here 17, and the Teamsters to ensure that food workers will receive health benefits and have their interests represented by the Teamsters. Former, long-time state cafeteria workers will be offered the opportunity to continue working. Clearly our boycott worked! I want to thank all fellow boycotters for their determination to continue the boycott in session if needed – happily there is no longer any need.

Sincerely,

Carolyn Laine
State Representative, 50A
