Statement on Governor Dayton’s Budget Proposal
St. Paul, Minnesota — Today, Governor Dayton unveiled his proposed budget for the next two fiscal years. The state is facing a $1.1 billion budget deficit.
Rep. Ryan Winkler (DFL – Golden Valley) released the following statement:
“Governor Dayton is being courageous and honest with the people of Minnesota. Minnesotans understand that balancing the budget and investing in our future is absolutely necessary and will cost money. Education is by the best economic development tool we have available to us and we must invest in early, K-12 and higher education. We need educated workers and innovation for our state to prosper.
“This proposal balances the budget, reforms the tax code, invests in education, and provides property tax relief. I look forward to working with my colleagues and the governor on a budget that puts Minnesota on the road to prosperity.”
