Rep. Winkler: Tea Party Activists Can’t Be Trusted to Reform Our Elections

(ST. PAUL) — Today, the Office of Administrative Hearings dismissed a complaint filed by Senator Scott Newman and Senator Mike Perry against Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, alleging that Ritchie had acted improperly and was misleading voters on the Photo ID constitutional amendment.

State Representative Ryan Winkler (DFL – Golden Valley) released the following statement:

“Photo ID supporters constantly run to court to question and attack the integrity of our election system and our election officials, but frivolous complaints and dangerous constitutional amendments raise questions about the good faith of Photo ID proponents.

“Tea Party activists can’t be trusted to reform our elections and their Photo ID amendment deserves to be rejected.”
