ST. PAUL, MN – State Rep. Keith Downey (R – Edina) has introduced legislation (HF4) that would cut the state workforce 15 percent by 2015. State Rep. Ryan Winkler (DFL – Golden Valley), a member of the State Government Finance and Government Operations and Elections committees, had this to say about the bill.
During the campaign season, Tea Party conservatives railed on runaway government spending. But since taking over the legislature, they have been spending money like a kid with his dad’s credit card.
Keith Downey continued his push today for a bill that would cut 5,100 public sector jobs, eliminate 1,500 private sector jobs, and create pension liabilities that Minnesotans will pay for decades to come.
Simplistic, across-the-board cuts to public workers isn’t reform – it’s just Tea Party politics.
