LEGISLATURE OFFERS RESPONSIBLE ALTERNATIVE TO GOVERNOR’S BORROWING SCHEME

We hear a lot from candidate Pawlenty about ponzi schemes in Washington. But Governor Pawlenty might want to take a better look at his own budget and a good look in the mirror; he’s doing the same thing.

Minnesota is facing an economic and fiscal crisis. Instead of providing his full attention to these serious challenges, the governor continues to offer fake solutions and empty promises to the people of Minnesota.

In the governor’s absence of leadership, the legislature has decided to show Minnesota through this crisis with an honest, responsible budget plan.

We passed a bill today to keep our hospitals open - Governor Pawlenty would close them.

We passed a bill today to keep our nursing homes open - Governor Pawlenty would close them.

We passed a bill today to put money in our classrooms and protect our students’ future - Governor Pawlenty would pile one-time money on top of failed programs, and set our schools up to fall off a cliff in two years.

Minnesotans expect better than what Governor Pawlenty is offering; and they should. Through his own stubbornness, this governor is leading the way to a budget breakdown. I would only ask that the governor listen to Minnesotans, listen to reason, and do his part to bring a responsible end to this legislative session.
