COMMUNITY DISCUSSION ON HEALTH CARE
To the Editor:
Providing all Minnesotans access to high-quality affordable health care is one of our top priorities as your elected legislators. Recognizing the need for change, we worked with our fellow legislators in a bipartisan fashion last session to secure significant improvements in Minnesota's health care system. The comprehensive health bill (SF2171) that the legislature passed last session enacts necessary reform measures, increases access to health care, and paves the way to making health care more affordable.
Strong progress was made last session, but there is a lot more work to be done. So we have been working throughout the interim with other legislators to craft solid solutions for Minnesota's health care system. Our goal is to develop recommendations and a timeline to achieve universal health care coverage for all Minnesotans by 2011. It is an ambitious, yet achievable goal that we strongly support.
We cannot do this work alone. Your input, ideas, and concerns on this issue are needed because the problems with our current health care system are affecting us all. Together we can make our system work for everyone.
That's why we're organizing a community discussion to talk about health care issues. The discussion will be held at St. Luke Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, November 14 at 7:00. All residents of Minnetonka and Eden Prairie are encouraged to attend to share their thoughts on this important issue. We look forward to seeing you.
