Saint Paul, November 17, 2010 – State Representative Sarah Anderson (R-Plymouth) was named Chair of the House Redistricting Committee last Wednesday. Anderson’s committee is tasked with re-drawing and delineating Minnesota’s congressional and state legislative districts.
“This committee will ensure the people of Minnesota are fairly represented in Congress and in the Minnesota legislature. We will be open and transparent, and I look forward to collaborating with colleagues from both parties and with citizens in the important work of re-drawing Minnesota’s electoral map,” said Anderson.
Minnesota is expected to maintain its existing eight congressional seats and currently has 67 state legislative districts. Final congressional seat reapportionment will be completed by the end of 2010, allowing Anderson’s committee to begin their work when the state legislature convenes on January 4, 2011.
“Our leadership is committed to growing jobs in Minnesota and realigning government to economic reality. Redistricting is just one of the many tasks ahead as we look to give Minnesotans the responsible, accountable government they deserve.”
