ST. PAUL –Mary Frush, a teaching specialist at Plymouth’s Intermediate School District 287, was one of more than 20 Minnesotans recognized at the Minnesota State Capitol for their work for people with disabilities.
The Minnesota S.T.A.R. Program (System of Technology to Achieve Results) conveyed the award in a State Capitol Rotunda ceremony on April 11, 2007. At Plymouth’s Intermediate School District 287, Frush specializes in occupational therapy and assistive technology. During the award ceremony, Frush was commended for her unparalleled ability to mix-and-match different types of hardware and software to suit each student’s specific needs.
Thanks to her work, persons with severe physical limitations can become more independent and improve their quality of life.
“Mary’s skill and dedication have improved countless lives. She is an asset to our students and our community. She truly deserves this award,” said State Representative Sarah Anderson, R-Plymouth.
According to its Web site, the STAR Program is federally-funded by the Rehabilitation Services Administration and administered by the Minnesota Department of Administration.
