To the editor,
Last week I had the opportunity to sit down with local business leaders from the TwinWest Chamber at the annual Minnesota Chamber of Commerce legislative preview event. I would like to thank them for sharing their thoughts on how to keep Plymouth competitive and attract new businesses. Not surprisingly, rising property taxes are one of their biggest concerns and so is education. They know that reasonable taxes and a well-educated workforce are vital to luring more and better jobs.
We also talked about the need to make sure today’s students are prepared to enter college. A recent study found that 36 percent of Minnesota high school graduates will take at least one remedial course during their first two years of college. We need to reverse this trend so that students can focus on their college courses instead of playing catch-up.
It was encouraging to meet with business leaders who want our community to grow and understand that success depends on everyone working with each other. I look forward to working with them and the rest of the Plymouth and Medicine Lake communities to help us become an even better place to live.
Sincerely,
Sarah Anderson
