The Minnesota Ultra High-Speed Broadband Task Force held its first meeting today in Eagan. Legislation authored by State Representative Sandra Masin of Eagan and passed by the 2008 Legislature created the task force, charged with making recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature regarding creation of a statewide high-speed Internet access goal and a plan for implementation by the year 2015.
"It's exciting to see us finally taking steps toward making high-speed Internet access a reality for every Minnesotan in every corner of the state, " Said Rep. Masin. "Minnesota's ability to compete in the 21st century will depend on an effective, affordable and accessible technology infrastructure statewide, and this task force will help us determine how to achieve that goal."
The task force will meet monthly and report their recommendations by November of 2009. Information about the task force and updates on their progress may be found online at www.ultra-high-speed-mn.org
