To the Editor,
The Minnesota Legislature adjourned this week, after completing one of the most productive legislative sessions in recent memory. We worked together, stuck to the basics, and delivered results on issues Minnesotans care about most - exactly what voters asked us to do.
The list of accomplishments exceeded most expectations. We provided meaningful health care reform; increased funding for K-12 schools – nearly $2.5 million in funding for Districts 191, 196 and 197 combined; enacted significant property tax relief and balanced the budget without raising taxes. We also passed a comprehensive transportation bill over two decades in the making, passed ground breaking environmental and energy policy, and delivered much-needed funding increases for Minnesota nursing homes.
By working together in a cooperative, bipartisan manner, we met many of the challenges facing our state and created tens of thousands of jobs for Minnesotans to jump start Minnesota's flagging economy.
It has been an honor to serve Eagan and Burnsville in the Legislature. While there is clearly more work that needs to be done, I'm confident the productive session will make our communities and our state a better place to live, work and raise a family. I look forward to meeting many of you over the course of the summer, and hearing your ideas about how together, we can make Minnesota even stronger.
Sincerely,
Sandra Masin
State Representative, District 38A
