REP. MASIN THANKS ALL WHO ATTENDED TOWN MEETINGS
To the Editor,
I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to attend the Town Hall meetings I recently hosted in Burnsville and Eagan. Hearing your concerns and ideas helps me to better represent you at the Capitol.
I always appreciate when people take time to share their ideas and concerns with me. Town meetings exemplify grassroots democracy at its finest, and participation shows that people care deeply about their communities and the decisions being made on their behalf. The stories I hear at these meetings is often as instructive as the testimony I get in a hearing room, and it's true - you help me by letting me know what's on your mind.
As is always the case, residents weighed in on a variety of issues the Legislature will address during the 2008 session. It's clear that Minnesotans want positive leadership and change from previous legislative sessions marked by gridlock, and that they appreciate the timely manner in which the 2007 session concluded. A wide variety of issues such as adequate education funding and relief from rising property taxes took center stage, as did discussions about a comprehensive transportation bill, health care concerns and capital investment suggestions.
Citizen involvement is critical to effective government, and hearing from you results in better policies by lawmakers. Thanks again to those who took time to share ideas, concerns and suggestions. For those of you, who were not able to attend the Town Hall meetings, please feel free to contact my office. I look forward to hearing from you.
