Rep. Norton Selected as Vice Chair of House Health and Human Services Finance Committee
(ST. PAUL) — On Thursday, House Speaker-designate Paul Thissen announced the Minnesota House of Representatives committee assignments for the 2013-2014 biennium. State Representative Kim Norton (DFL – Rochester) was selected to serve as the Vice Chair of the House Health and Human Services Finance Committee, and as a member of the Capital Investment, Higher Education Policy and Finance, Jobs and Economic Development Finance and Policy, and Rules and Legislative Administration Committees.
Rep. Norton released the following statement on yesterday’s announcement:
“I’m honored to have been selected as the Vice Chair of the House and Health and Human Services Finance Committee. Health and Human Services is the largest part of our state budget, and we must do all that we can to ensure that Minnesota continues to have an excellent health care system while slowing the rapidly increasing growth in health care spending. There are challenges but opportunities as well, and I look forward to working on behalf of my constituents and all Minnesotans.
“I’m pleased to also serve on the Capital Investment, Higher Education, Jobs and Economic Development, and Rules Committees as well. Being on these committees will give me an excellent opportunity to ensure that Rochester receives its share of bonding and infrastructure attention, to enact positive reforms and appropriate funding for our colleges and universities, and work to keep our fragile economic recovery moving in the right direction.
“There’s a lot to be done, but I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work.”
