KIM NORTON SWORN IN AS STATE REPRESENTATIVE FOR DISTRICT 29B

ST. PAUL – Kim Norton was officially sworn in as the State Representative for District 29B as the 85th Legislative Session convened on Wednesday at the State Capitol. Norton, a non-profit district manager from Rochester, is beginning her first term as State Representative.

"I am honored to have been chosen by the voters of District 31B to hold this office in service of this state and our community. I am eager to begin this important work," said Norton.

Among her top priorities for this session are to focus on a balanced and honest budget that does not increase property taxes while addressing funding needs for E-12 education, health care, and other issues of particular importance to her constituents.

"If we can work together in a bipartisan manner, we can achieve all of this and more," stated Norton. She is committed working together with her fellow legislators from both parties to find common ground and build a better and stronger future for Minnesota.

Norton will serve on key House committees this session that in her opinion will provide her the opportunity to help the legislature be a visionary body intent on creating a better future for our state. Rep. Norton will be serving as Vice-Chair of the Biosciences and Emerging Technologies Committee. She will also be a member of the Health and Human Services Committee and the Higher Education and Workforce Development Policy and Finance Division. However, Norton encourages residents of District 29B to contact her with concerns regarding any issue of state government.

“I am committed to ensuring that the needs of our area are heard in St. Paul," she said. “Citizen involvement in the legislative process is extremely important and I encourage all of my constituents to contact me with concerns and important issues they would like addressed.”

You can contact Rep. Kim Norton at (651) 296-9249, by mail at 387 State Office Building, 100 Martin Luther King Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55155 or via e-mail at rep.kim.norton@house.mn.
