(ST. PAUL) — State Representative John Ward congratulated Garfield Elementary for being designated as a 2012 Celebration School. As part of Minnesota’s new waiver, schools that receive a Multiple Measurement Rating that falls between the 60th and 80th percentile are deemed Celebration-eligible and are invited to apply for this recognition. Of the 211 schools deemed eligible to apply, the Minnesota Department of Education received more than 140 applications, and from that group only 57 were chosen based upon their notable work to increase student achievement.
“Congratulations to the excellent students, faculty, and staff at Garfield Elementary,” said Rep. Ward. “This is a great achievement and is the result of a lot of hard work.
“Education is opportunity – opportunity for Minnesotans to live the American Dream, work their way into the middle class, and leave a better future for their children. Ensuring that every child in Minnesota has the opportunity to receive a high-quality education is essential to long-term success for our state, our community, and our economy and the results at schools like Garfield Elementary are just what we need.
“Again, congratulations and keep up the great work!”
