(ST. PAUL) State Representative John Ward is encouraging eligible area organizations and local government agencies to apply for grants available through the Minnesota Legacy Amendment, which was passed by voters on November 4, 2008. Grants are available from the Parks and Trails Legacy Grant Program, the Minnesota State Arts Board, and Clean Water Fund Grants from the Pollution Control Agency.
The grants are another excellent opportunity for organizations and local governments to preserve and improve parks and trails, clean-up our water and preserve our beautiful environment, and encourage wonderful Minnesota works of art, said Rep. Ward. I encourage organizations and local governments to apply and take advantage of this chance.
The Parks and Trails Legacy Grant Program is open to any county, city, or township governments outside the metro area. Nearly $7.5 million in grant money is available. The deadline is September 28, 2012 and application materials can be found online at http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/grants/recreation/pt_legacy.html.
A variety of grants remain available from the Minnesota State Arts Board. The deadline for the Art Access Grant, which is designed to help arts organizations broaden arts opportunities for underserved groups is July 27, 2012. The Arts Tour Minnesota program is designed to give Minnesotans greater access to high-quality artists and arts organizations and has a deadline of August 3, 2012. The deadline for the Community Arts Schools and Conservatories, which is a pilot program that provides operating support to high quality, established community arts schools and conservatories is July 31, 2012.
The Cultural Community Partnership Grant Program has an August 17, 2012 deadline. This program is designed to enhance the artistic and career development of artists of color. More information on these grant programs can be found online at http://www.arts.state.mn.us/calendar/index.htm.
Finally, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has a variety of clean water, clean-up, and environmental protection grant and loan programs available to local governments, small businesses, and other organizations. Many of these programs do not have set deadlines.
