Today, Rep. Ward congratulated young Connor Gunsbury of Nisswa on his semifinal finish in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Gunsbury, a Forestview Middle School eighth grader, tied for 19th place out of 275 participants ages 8-15.
“I offer my congratulations to Connor and his family," Rep. Ward said. “Connor has represented himself, his family, and his community exceptionally well. He set a goal and didn’t stop until he met it. That drive and dedication makes Connor a great role model for others to follow. Connor is a very talented young person and I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”
“I also congratulate Connor’s school, teachers and classmates,” Rep. Ward added. “We’re blessed with great schools, great students, and great teachers in our area, and I’m pleased to see their work recognized on a national level.”
The Scripps National Spelling Bee is held every year the week following Memorial Day Weekend and is open to students from the United States. The competition has more recently been opened up to students from several international countries.
