St. Paul, MN – Speaker of the House Kurt Zellers has appointed State Rep. John Ward (Brainerd) to serve on the Minnesota Tourism Council, a statewide group of businesspeople and legislators dedicated to protecting and promoting the tourism industry in Minnesota. This is Rep. Ward’s third term on this council.
“Whether it’s our lakes, trails, campgrounds, or resorts, tourism is the bread and butter of our district’s economic strength and prosperity," said Ward. “I will continue to work with the members of this council, and local and state economic developers to protect these businesses and the jobs they provide.”
Ward said the Council is focusing on four areas critical to the development and growth of Minnesota tourism:
• Tourism Awareness
• Marketing
• Funding
• Partnerships such as the marketing of State Parks and Trails with the DNR
