State Representative John Ward wants to remind people that the fourth annual election period for Medicare Advantage and Part D begins on November 15th and ends on December 31, 2008. During that time, all people with Medicare can change their health plan or prescription drug coverage, with the new coverage becoming effective on January 1, 2009.
“As your health status changes, your benefits and cost can also change," said Ward. ”I would encourage everyone to review their plan options again this year so you can get the coverage you really need.”
For plan year 2008, two-thirds of all Medicare beneficiaries reviewed their plan options, one-third compared more than one plan, and 3.1 million Medicare beneficiaries – about 12% - changed their plan.
Beneficiaries may opt to receive this help by calling 1-800-MEDICARE or the Minnesota SHIP program at 1-800-333-2433 to schedule a possible face to face appointment. If you have any questions, please contact Rep. Ward at (651) 296-4333 or rep.john.ward@house.mn.
