St. Paul, MN – State Rep. John Ward (DFL – Brainerd) wants to make sure people in his district know there is free tax-preparation available for seniors, disabled citizens and low-income earners.
Every year, the Department of Revenue coordinates the free tax-preparation program, with volunteers across the state offering help to prepare federal and state tax returns for senior citizens, disabled citizens, and individuals with an income of $30,000 or less ($40,000 or less for families).
"If you fall into one of these categories and would like some help filing your taxes, I encourage you to use this free service," said Rep. Ward. "It will make tax season much less worrisome, and help you make sure you get all the deductions you have coming to you."
If you think you may qualify, contact the Department of Revenue website: http://www.taxes.state.mn.us/vita/free_tax_prep.shtml
