St. Paul, MN – State Representative John Ward (DFL- Brainerd) is pleased to announce that the city of Ironton has been awarded a Minnesota Historical Society grant to restore the Ironton City Hall foundation and second floor. The grant, in the amount of $14,125, is one of fifty-one projects statewide.
"I want to congratulate the city of Ironton's staff and elected officials
for their efforts in applying for this grant," said Rep. Ward. "I understand there is significant competition for limited funds, and many worthwhile projects were not approved."
Applicants for the grants had the opportunity to present their needs in person as well as on paper. The Grants Review Committee, a subcommittee of the Historical Society's governing board, evaluated each of the applications, as well as the individual presentations. Those receiving grants must match their awards, but most will exceed this requirement.
