"Standing Women" celebrates future of our children

Dear Editor,
On Sunday, May 13th, I had the pleasure of joining a group of dedicated and caring people in Gregory Park to celebrate the "Standing Women" cause. We stood in silence for five minutes to reflect on the future of our children and grandchildren. I thought about our children's education, health care and environment, as well as the opportunities I am hopeful they will have available to them in the future.
Eighteen other cities and towns in Minnesota also celebrated "Standing Women"; over 3,200 similar events were held worldwide, across 74 nations. To find out more, check out standingwomen.org.
I want to extend my thanks to Karen Kirschner for organizing the Brainerd event. I look forward to future "Standing Women" events, where we can once again focus on our children and grandchildren's future.
