JOHN WARD SWORN IN AS STATE REPRESENTATIVE FROM DISTRICT 12A
ST. PAUL – John Ward of Brainerd was officially sworn in as the District 12A State Representative as the 85th Legislative Session convened on January 3rd at the State Capitol. Ward, who was an educator for over 30 years, is beginning his first term as State Representative. He plans to use his extensive experience in a bipartisan fashion to build a better and stronger future for Minnesota.
“It is an honor to represent the citizens of District 12A at the Capitol," Ward said. “I would like to thank the voters again for extending me the opportunity, and I will continue to work hard to uphold the trust you’ve placed in me.”
As a member of the new DFL majority, Ward said is looking forward to passing good legislation that will benefit all Minnesotans.
"We have some big challenges ahead of us," said Ward. "I am hopeful we can reach bipartisan support on our top priorities of affordable health care, adequate education funding, property tax relief and a good transportation bill."
Ward will be serving on key House committees: E-12 Education, Early Childhood Learning Finance and Education Finance and Economic Competitiveness Finance. He was also appointed Vice-Chair of the State Government Finance Committee.
