FAUST OFFICIALLY TAKES HOUSE SEAT

ST. PAUL - State Representative Tim Faust officially began a two-year term as District 8B's representative in the Minnesota House. The swearing-in ceremony took place Wednesday, January 3rd in the Minnesota House Chamber.

"Minnesotans living in Isanti, Kanabec, and Pine Counties and all over the state sent a clear signal to lawmakers this past November," Faust said. "They want us to go beyond the partisanship and ensure we have quality schools, stable and fair property taxes, and affordable health care."

Faust said one of his top priorities is reforming the way Minnesota invests in schools, an issue he'll have a lot of influence over with a House K-12 Education Finance Committee seat.

"School funding needs to be more equitable," Faust added. "The schools in our area are really suffering because of the current funding formulas. We need to either throw them away and start over or adjust them so it takes care of the smaller rural schools we have."

While only in his first term, Rep. Faust will be a leader on rural issues. He will serve as Vice Chair on the Agriculture, Rural Economies and Veterans Affairs Policy Committee and hold a seat on the Agriculture, Rural Economies and Veterans Affairs Finance Committee.

"I'm pleased the speaker has appointed me to position on committees that deal with key issues important to our area and all of rural Minnesota."
