ST. PAUL – Rep. Tom Anzelc (DFL – Balsam Township) took the oath of office today at the State Capitol, officially marking the beginning of his 2nd term as the State Representative for District 3A.
“I’m proud to continue serving the great people I represent in Koochiching, Lake of the Woods and Itasca County," said Anzelc. “This session I will work to protect jobs and create new jobs in Northern Minnesota as well as fight hard to make sure we get Minnesota back on the right track to economic recovery.”
Anzelc was appointed to several key committees for the 2009-10 State Legislature including: Health Care and Human Services Finance, Environment and Natural Resources Finance, K-12 Education Finance, and Commerce and Labor. Anzelc was pleased with the new appointment to Health Care and Human Services Finance.
“I am committed to making sure the State Legislature is taking care of our loved ones who live in nursing homes,” said Anzelc. “Serving on this committee gives me the opportunity to take a hands-on-approach to preserving funding for valuable health care resources that benefit our seniors.”
Closing a $4.8 state budget deficit will be a top task for the Legislature, but Anzelc said protecting and creating jobs should be the top priority as they move forward.
“The biggest reason we have a budget problem is far too many hardworking Minnesotans have lost their jobs in this bad economy,” said Anzelc. “That’s why any solution to our budget problem must address our jobs problem. The only way we can get Minnesota’s economy up and running is if we put Minnesotans back to work.”
Anzelc encouraged the people of District 3A to contact him throughout the session.
“I’m here at the State Capitol to be your voice,” said Anzelc. “Never hesitate to contact me with your ideas and input.” said Anzelc.
