Rep. Hansen to Speak at National Pesticide Conference

Representative Rick Hansen will travel to Madison, Wisconsin from August 15-18 to address the Environmental Protection Agency's 2005 North American Pesticide Applicator Certification and Safety Education Workshop. The EPA invited Representative Hansen to speak on the topic of legislative policy for pesticides.

"I look forward to sharing my experience on the role state government can play in ensuring the safe use of pesticides with professionals from all over the continent," Representative Hansen commented. "I plan to bring back what I learn about innovative policy tools to my work in the Minnesota House."

Representative Hansen has been a leader in the Minnesota Legislature on environmental issues, passing bills on wetland protection and noxious weed control. Previous to serving in the House, Hansen was elected to the Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District. Prior to serving in the Legislature, Hansen worked with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture on pesticide use and certification. Hansen also served on numerous US Environmental Protection Agency committees dealing with pesticide safety and security.

U.S. EPA will reimburse Rep. Hansen for mileage and one night of lodging. The State of Minnesota will not incur cost with this trip.
