ST. PAUL, MN – State Representative Rick Hansen, District 39A, attended the 2010 National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL) Legislative Summit in Louisville, Kentucky, July 25-28.
“I welcomed the opportunity to attend the NCSL Legislative Summit and participate in an agenda that concentrated on key interest areas important to my district and state: health, energy, livable communities, environment, transportation and economic development," said Rep. Hansen. “I received scholarships from the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators and the National Conference of State Legislators to attend the summit. During the three day summit I attended a transportation forum that discussed transit and high speed rail, learned about upcoming redistricting processes, met with Minnesota students in the Project Citizen program, and joined other voting members of the Environment Committee to review existing policies and deliberate on new policy resolutions.”
The National Conference of State Legislatures is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation’s 50 states, its commonwealths and territories. NCSL provides research, technical assistance and opportunities like the summit for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues (www.ncsl.org).
“This bi-partisan forum of exchanging ideas from state to state is invaluable because it encourages and stimulates discussion of the best possible outcomes for the future,” said Rep. Hansen. “I brought home a wealth of shared ideas and experiences on public policy issues that will help serve Minnesota’s best interests. I want to thank the sponsors of the summit for an outstanding conference and the staff of the Econo Lodge for making my stay in Louisville so comfortable.”
