Representative Rick Hansen elected to DFL House Steering Committee
Representative Rick Hansen was elected by his peers to the Steering Committee of the DFL Caucus of the Minnesota House of Representatives on Monday. This committee provides leadership to the caucus on policy and strategy. This position gives Representative Hansen an opportunity to make sure that the caucus stays focused on implementing solutions to the problems confronting the state. It is rare that a first-term representative like Hansen is selected for the committee, and he brings with him new ideas and new ways of doing business.
It is an honor to be elected to this position in my first term," Representative Hansen said. I want to make sure that we have a productive legislative session, and that we get the job done for the people of our district. I have always been committed to working in a pragmatic, bi-partisan way, and the caucus has decided that is the attitude it needs in its leadership.
In addition to his election to the Steering Committee, Representative Hansen has also been a leader this session in other crucial areas, such as mental health and conservation. He was recently one of a group of legislators to start the Mental Health Caucus in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
