RICK HANSEN SWORN IN AS STATE REPRESENTATIVE FOR DISTRICT 39A

ST. PAUL – Rick Hansen of South Saint Paul was sworn in on January 3rd at the Capitol as State Representative for District 39A. He is returning to serve his second term. With two years of experience in the House, Hansen is fully prepared for this 85th legislative session.

“I consider it a great honor to serve my community as a voice for our common interests. I am eager to continue this important work at the Capitol," said Hansen.

One of Rep. Hansen's top priorities will be the environment. As a strong advocate for clean water and dedicated funding for the environment, he is looking forward to his service as Vice-Chair of the Environment Committee and member of the Environment and Natural Resources Finance Division and the Game, Fish and Forestry Division.

"I feel that my appointment to these three bodies will give me a great opportunity to be directly involved in the important environmental issues facing this state," said Hansen. "As a member of the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators I hope to coordinate our efforts in Minnesota with legislative colleagues across the country to develop strong policies capable of improving and protecting our environment for many years to come."

Rep. Hansen will also be serving as a member of the Agriculture Committee, Rural Economies and Veterans Affairs Finance Division, and Capital Investment Finance Division. He is particularly excited about his role with the Capital Investment Finance Division that will allow him to have a stronger voice in the recommendation of bonding for public projects such as the Robert Street Corridor Study. Hansen encourages residents of District 39A to contact him with concerns regarding these or any other issue of state government.

“I’m here to make sure that the needs of our community are heard and addressed accordingly in the business of the state," he said. “Citizen involvement in the legislative process is extremely important and I encourage all of my constituents to contact me with any concerns they have and important issues they would like addressed.”
