REP. JEANNE POPPE HONORED FOR COMMITMENT TO EDUCATION

St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota School Board Association (MSBA) has named State Representative Jeanne Poppe (DFL-Austin) as the recipient of their Guardian of Public Schools Award. The award is presented annually to State Legislators who demonstrate a commitment to helping Minnesota's students.
"I'm very honored to receive this award," said Rep. Poppe. "One of my top priorities as a State Legislator is to work to improve public education throughout the state, helping to ensure that all of our students receive a high quality of education."
"Rep. Poppe's efforts on behalf of public education are very important to Minnesota's students," said Grace Schwab, Director of Governmental Relations for the Minnesota School Boards Association. "This award is one way we can say "Thank You" for supporting our schools."
Poppe received the Guardian of Public Schools Award for co-authoring legislation that would grant school districts the authority to offer certain rewards to persons who provide information that leads to the apprehension and arrest of a person or persons who have committed a crime against school property, students, or personnel.
