POPPE HONORS TEACHER APPRECIATION DAY
(ST. PAUL) – Students and former students are celebrating teachers across the country today on Teacher Appreciation Day. In honor of teachers everywhere State Representative Jeanne Poppe (DFL-Austin) released the following statement.
“Mrs. Onsgard was the best 5th grade teacher ever. She loved learning and shared that infectious enthusiasm with all her students. Mrs. Onsgard brought history to life. Her Civil War re-enactments were the highlight of elementary school. She brought her banjo and we sang songs from the period. She could also play a mean piano.
“Mrs. Onsgard was an exceptional teacher among many. 5th grade is a pivotal time in the development of children. She demonstrated trust and allowed us to develop our independence. She even let us sit where we wanted each day – no seating chart!"
