State Representative Jeanne Poppe (DFL-Austin) is pleased to announce that beginning with the 2008 session, which begins on Tuesday, February 12th, the Minnesota Legislature will be providing statewide, over-the-air broadcasting of live legislative television coverage. This coverage, to be included in public television's over-the-air digital service the Minnesota Channel, will be available to almost anyone who has the ability to receive over-the-air digital channels.
Legislative coverage will be provided Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with extended evening and weekend coverage available for debates on high-profile issues. The regular broadcasts on tpt17 in the Twin Cities and on satellite feed to select Greater Minnesota cable systems will also be continued. In the Austin area, live coverage of the state legislature can be seen on KSMQ, channel 15.4.
"I know there are people in our area who like to follow what's happening at this state legislature, and with this new coverage, it will be just like being there," said Rep. Poppe.
